FAQ

Q. Is it painful?

A. There is a general misconception that Rolfing is a painful process. It can be intense but it should never be more intense than you feel comfortable with. A good Rolfer will listen to the feedback you give them and will modify their touch as needed. Often my clients tell me they wish they had come to see me sooner but were afraid of the rumored pain they would experience.

Another way to think of the work is this… if you are in pain everyday then a little controlled discomfort that brings relief is well worth it. Philosophically speaking, not all all change is comfortable but the results will pay you back ten-fold.

Q. Do I have to do the 10 Series first?

A. No, individual sessions are great! I started out with a single session for a nagging snowboarding injury. I didn’t do the Ten Series until much later. Even now, I do individual sessions for running and general mechanical maintenance that I call “pre-hab” (instead of rehab). The type of session you receive is up to your body and your specific needs.

Q. How long does a session last?

A. Each session in the Ten Series is an hour long. Individual sessions range from 60-90 min. depending on the need.

Q. what do i wear as a client?

A. I recommend that clients wear the same outfit for a yoga class or a gym session.

Q. Is Rolfing like a massage?

A. Rolfing is a manual therapy, closer to physical therapy and chiropractic care then it is to classic massage. I don’t play music, use massage oil, or apply hot stones.

Q. Who should get rolfing done?

A. Anyone with a body. Rolfing is the human body’s guide for life.
